Project Timeline

“With this investment, we’ll help build a space dedicated to celebrating the culture and contributions of our proud Vietnamese communities.
This Museum will be an Australian-first – and it’s only fitting that we build it right here in the multicultural capital of our nation.”

“This project transcends political parties, it transcends short-term politics. This project is about Australia at its finest and about how Australia opened its arms to people coming from persecution, it was Australia making the right decision and a Humane decision.”

“The Vietnamese Museum in Melbourne is of profound importance because it records important aspects of the culture of refugees who fled South Vietnam when it was attacked by the North and also records dramatic changes in the lives of those refugees as they risked their lives fleeing tyranny and, with difficulty, gaining processing to Australia. It also records the evolving years of settlement and integration. It will be a source of knowledge for so many people interested in the most important aspect of the evolution of Australia”.

“The Vietnamese Museum Australia will do more than record a time in post-war history, it will provide Vietnamese Victorians with an opportunity to share and preserve their stories of migration to Australia.”

“We are proud to support the construction of the Vietnamese Museum Australia to ensure people develop a deeper understanding of the Vietnamese community, their experiences and their significant contributions to Australia.”

“The museum will provide valuable dedicated space for the Vietnamese community and for all Victorians to share and learn from Vietnamese culture and traditions.”
