Media release – First Vietnamese museum in Australia looking for a home in Sunshine

The Vietnamese Museum Australia is delighted to share the news that we are in active conversations with Brimbank City Council to explore opportunities for a new home for the VMA. On Tuesday 12th December, Councillors voted to enter in to a Memorandum of Understanding with the VMA to proceed with the next steps to secure a location for the VMA in Sunshine. We are excited to continue working with Brimbank to realise the dream of Australia’s first Vietnamese Museum.
“The longstanding and vibrant Vietnamese community that makes up the Sunshine CBD of today has helped make it a regional destination to experience authentic Vietnamese food, street life and culture. Through the Transforming Brimbank program we’re committed to delivering meaningful and generational change for Brimbank, by leveraging major investment and infrastructure opportunities. This is one of those opportunities.” – Ranka Rasic , Mayor of Brimbank
Our Public Community meeting that was originally scheduled in November was postponed in anticipation of this news, and we look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow Saturday 16th December 1pm at the Australian Vietnamese Women’s Association – Hội Phụ Nữ Việt Úc – 8 Parsons Avenue, Springvale to share more details.
